Tualeitā – the ‘path of the shades’ or ‘spirit path’.
If there were Seven Wonders of Fiji, one of them would undoubtedly be the Tualeitā. It is a mountain ridge that stretches near Vuda Point through the highlands of Western Viti Levu to the Nakauvadra mountains in North-East Viti Levu. It’s said to be the residence of Degei, the most revered ancestor God of Eastern Fiji. Its name tells us that: tua means ‘ridge’ or ‘path’ and leitā means ‘constructed’ or ‘artificial’ in Western Fijian.
